Indonesia found a comprehensive, varied and interesting country to travel. The hard part is deciding which islands to visit, each is very different and it depends on what your preferences are: beaches, volcanoes, jungles, culture, etc.
Undoubtedly, Bali is the main tourist destination in Indonesia, and the island has something special to only find there, and we should not let go. But there is much more in this diverse country.
Indonesia has miles of coastline beaches but not always good. There are many areas of mangroves. Areas close to cities are often dirty. And the Indian Ocean is often violent, but feared surfers paradise for bathers. The incredible diving sites seabed not always have special beauty out for other visitors, come if you like beach.
You'll find mountains on all sides and many volcanoes, some active.
People in general are friendly although Indonesians have a way to be something special: not cut anything, they ask for photos are nervous ... Although this varies from one island to another.
It is a Muslim country but the people are tolerant, there are few really conservative areas.
Quiet but sometimes noisy between the mosques and the music that fascinates them and the higher country's mess.
MONEY
The currency is the Rupiah (Rp) and the exchange rate in 2012 was 1 € = 11,300 Rp.
In Indonesia no shortage of ATMs. Only in remote mountain areas or small islands, there are few or no. Better bring enough cash in these cases.
Very tourist sites (Yogyakarta, Kuta and Ubud in Bali), there are plenty of currency exchange, generally getting a better rate than at ATMs (in June 2012 compared to 11,800 Rp Rp 11,400 in cash).
When you withdraw money from ATMs, keep in mind that they limit Rp 1,200,000 or 2,000,000 (ATMs Rp 100,000 bills, indicated on a sticker). Some have a limit of only 500,000 (which says billtetes Rp 50,000).
The budget for travel to Indonesia will depend on what your destination and want to visit as many islands in a period of travel in public transport tiempo.Si and using the ferries to the islands, is cheap but need time. The tourist transports are faster but also more expensive.
If you must take several aircraft, although there are low-cost as Air Asia and Lion Air, the budget will suffer. And finally Indonesia can be quite expensive.
LANGUAGE
The language is Bahasa, though each island has its own dialects. In tourist areas many people speak English, but in general, people do not. The language is not as big a problem to travel Indonesia because people are talkative and with a word of Bahasa is easily understood. Also the language is easy to learn ... and I also used to Malaysia.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodations range in quality and price from one island to another. The best rooms are those of Bali and the cheapest (and correct but not breakfast) in Sumatra (50,000 Rp 5 €). In the rest, the quality is very variable but generally correct. Often you have a terrace or garden.
In general, the price of a double room with bath begins on 80-100000 minimum Rp including breakfast in general. In high season (July and August) prices rise.
