BELGIUM 0: Introduction

From 4 to 10 April 2012
Belgium is an ideal place to get away for several days destination. Its cities are relatively small and full of historical treasures to discover. And to round it off, the arrival by plane is easy because of the many airlines operating flights between Spain and Belgium, some of them with ridiculous prices. Also, around once there is very easy thanks to the extensive rail network and service quality.
The Belgian tourism are more historic cities of Flanders, notably Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Mechelen and Leuven. Also well known is the capital, Brussels, which is the European Union too. Besides visiting these cities, we also wanted to see something of Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium and unknown. For that reason we visited Namur, Dinant and Tournai.

The timetable for visits every day was as follows:
Day 1 - Namur and Dinant: in the morning we arrived at the airport and went to visit Charleroi Namur, capital of Wallonia. Afternoon stroll through the charming town of Dinant, and at night we traveled to Brussels where we would spend the next three nights.
Day 2 - Brussels I: whole day to visit the historic center of Brussels, where we loved the Rue des Bouchers and especially the spectacular Grand Place.
Day 3 - Leuven and Brussels II: in the morning we visited the university town of Leuven, known for its beautiful Stadhuis. In the afternoon we returned to Brussels to see the Parc du Cinquantenaire and the neighborhood of the European Union.
Day 4 - Mechelen and Antwerpen: in the morning we were walking through Mechelen, with its imposing cathedral. Afternoon visit Antwerp, with a small but interesting old town. We spent the night.
Day 5 - Gent: Full to visit the beautiful canals and historic buildings of Gent day the city we liked about this trip. Evening in Ghent.
Day 6 - Brugge I: heavy rain, all day we visited the historic center of Bruges, which also would do tonight.
Day 7 - Brugge and Tournai II: for a few hours just visited Bruges advantage that it stopped raining. After traveling to Tournai to visit the famous Cathedral before returning to Brussels to catch the plane back.
The rich historical and cultural heritage of Belgium loved. Strolling through the old towns is a joy, and in many cases is a journey in time, because of how well preserved buildings. He also surprised us with a rich and varied cuisine, discover some of their dishes is a must on any trip. And beer lovers would not have to think more, as the Belgians are among the best and most varied flavors of the world. There are many reasons to visit Belgium and none disappoint you!
